Cyclo cross
To the untrained eye a cycle-cross bike is a racing bike with knobbly tyres, but they're so much more than that.
Originally designed for off road riding more are now used as commuters and hack bikes than off roaders. With slacker geometry, slightly more upright riding position, longer wheel bases, better brakes and stronger everything when compared to racing bikes they do make an ideal bike for many looking a comfortable and strong road bike.
Swop the knobbly tyres to some slicks and your good to go all winter.
Flat Bar
Road bikes are great for a multitude of uses, from light off road (cycle-cross) to commuting to training, but not everyone wants or can get on with drop bars. That's where flat bar road bikes come in.
The benefits of drop bars over flat is multiple hand positions, the benefit of flat over drop is a more upright riding position and a wider grip. What's right for you? Only you know that one!
In our flat bar section you will find many different types of flat bar road bikes from cycle-cross derived machines to full on racing bikes. Racing
Not just for racing, but always for when speed, lightweight and power transfer are the main elements of your ride. Racing bikes are not built for comfort, they're built to be fast and light, often using composite materials they're often at the very tip of the cutting edge, and have price tags to match.
Riding positions are low at the front, high at the back and in an attack stance at all times. These are the kind of bikes you'll be getting if your planning on racing (obviously), riding with the Sunday clubs or doing mid week training. They can also double as Time Trail bikes.
Single Speed
Bikes don't need lots of gears, some prefer the simplicity of just having the one, Singlespeed. Less moving parts means less to go wrong and less to replace when it wears out. They're not for everyone, but they do make a lot of sense.
And don't think you won't be able to get that single speed bike up the hill, you will, you just have to want to!
Time Trial / Track
Time trail bikes are a unique breed of racing bike, they exist for one sole purpose: To go every very fast! Track bikes are even more unique, they too are designed to go very very fast, but on an indoor track, due to the lack of other traffic they have to deal with track bikes often don't even have brakes!
The bikes in this sections are very specialist and not for the faint hearted. Unless you know EXACTLY what you want and exactly your doing don't look in here!
Touring
Need to carry a LOT of luggage on your bike? A touring bike is what you need. Don't be put off by the name though, these bikes are not just for touring on, commuting, long LONG Sunday rides and everything in between is where your touring bike will come into it's own.
Typically made of steel they will have a full compliments of rack and mudguard mounts, upright riding positions, very wide gear ranges and durable components. If your looking a lightweight road going bike don't look at a tourer, but if you want to carry lots of kit and want a bike that is comfy for hours on end, give them serious consideration.
Womans
Woman are a very different shape to men, other than the obvious they typically have longer legs and shorter torsos than men. This means woman need bikes that are a different shape to men, essentially shorter in length and higher in height. Woman also often need narrower bars, wider saddles, shorter stems and shorter cranks.
In this section you'll find all our road bikes are are designed solely for the female form and rider. Don't worry though, if you find a bike in another section we can normally make some basic changes to make it fit. It'll never be as perfect a fit as a woman specific design, but it can often be a lot cheaper!
