bikes online is a convenient and often cheap way to
purchase a bike, buying from the comfort of your home or work
place is great, as is having it delivered to your door, but it's not
without it's pitfalls. Here we will help you decide if buying a bike
online is the right way to purchase for you. Bikes are not rocket science, but then they're not childs play either. Modern bikes often have quite high tech parts and components and these can take some looking after, and in some cases setting up to your specific requirements and weight. Most of the information you will need to do this is available from ourselves and the internet, but for some less technically adept people the support of a local shop is invaluable. All the bikes we send out are first built up and test ridden on our indoor test track, then partially dismantled, re-packaged and sent to our customers. Upon delivery they require minimum assembly to make ridable: Front wheel insterted, pedals attached, handle bars straightened, that sort of thing. Anyone considering venturing out on a bike should first be capable of this sort of basic maintenance, but if you don't know an allen key from a spanner you really should ask yourself if buying online is for you. During the build up of bikes we setup the brakes and gears to perfection, but sometimes things can go out of whack in shipping. Sometimes, once out of the box the gears feel a bit "clicky" and the brakes a bit "spongey". This is nothing to worry about, a quick tune here and tweak there using our "How To" videos should have things running smoothly. But again, if you don't feel up to this sort of job we strongly suggest buying local, with the hands on support this brings. All of these jobs are simply to do, and will need doing periodically anyway, so this is the perfect time to learn, and learning to do it yourself will save you money in the long run.
